Thank you to the many volunteers who set up the fields, worked in the canteen and BBQ and packed up for our Round 9 home games. These games would not happen without the efforts of many. Our canteen bakers also did us proud on Saturday with an array of sweet treats on offer including brownies, muffins, cookies, and cupcakes!
MATCH REPORTS – Round 9
U6 Mantarays - This was the re-match the Mantaray’s had been waiting for. A stronger, faster, better team took the field full of confidence coming off the game of the year last week. The highlights could have filled an ‘Eye of the Tiger’ Rocky montage. Unforgettable goals from Harvey, throw in precision from Emika and courageous tackling from Quinn all featured. Simply too much amazing play to cover it all. The adoring and vocal crowd gasped, and then silence fell amongst us as we witnessed our very own ‘hand of god’ moment as Ethan deflected the ball leading to a world class strike and goal from Hudson. People will be talking about this game for seasons to come. - Manager Mike
U7 Snappers - Snap snap snappers! 4-1 home game win. Liam got two goals, Elliott scored his first goal for the season and Xavier also got one! Big grins and great spirit. - Katie
U7 Stingrays - A ripper of a game for the team. They played so well! A huge improvement from them all as they showed great teamwork. Isaac was a superb goalie with lots of great saves and well-planned big kick outs. Finn defended the goals wonderfully kicking from the back line. Great attack from all the others as they ran and ran all game! Their happy faces at the end said it all. Manager - Kirsty
U8 Angelfish- The girls played their hearts out for 2 games! Two losses but we don’t mind, we were just excited to play as a full team for the first time all season! Congratulations to Abi, Meika, Dotti, Alaina and Isla who all won themselves an award today.
U9 Seahorses - The U9 Seahorses played 2 x back-to-back games with a draw on our first game and a loss on our second. Player of the match was Luella for game 1 and Autumn for game 2 - both giving it their all and showed great skills and sportsmanship. It was great to see the sun shining again and have the girls back on the field having fun. Our goal celebrations were on fire. Well done Seahorses and Coach Greg. Manager - Gaby
U9 Sharks - Two games today for the Sharks. Two wins and a lot of grins! Game 1 Vs Stella Boom. Game 2 Vs Pacific Seahorses. All the boys played well, and we’re super proud they played two games back-to-back. Excellent defending and attack, and some sharp leg work to guard or recover the ball. A HUGE thank you to stand in Ref Michael Yared for being on field for both games! Manager - Katie
U11 Marlins - The team played really well in a very even game against Stella Scorchers. The final score was a draw 1-1. Congratulations to our Player of the Match, Zane T, with Charlie and Mani receiving encouragement awards for their work on the field. The boys then met up at Laserzone to enjoy their Fair Play Award from 2021. Manager - Amanda
U12 Razors - Razors excited to be back on the field again after a long break, for a home game against the Bli Bli Jesters. Lots of energy and pressure on the opponents gave the Razors the upper hand throughout the game. First half delivered many opportunities and a few near goals. In the second half the Razors took their game to another level again, showing some beautiful team play and combinations all over the park, resulting in a solid 2-0 win. Great game by all players and promising more fireworks to be expected over the next weeks. - Manager Lara
U14 Barracudas - Barracudas remain top of the table with a 3-0 victory against Unity Mambas, with the Barracudas playing at home for the first time this season. Barracudas used wind to their advantage in the first half to put away three goals within the first 10 minutes. The game tightened up and remained 3-0 at full time. Special mention: - Nick, Isaac, Manny, Talys and Carter. Coach - Sheldon
U15/16 Eels – The team went head-to-head with Caloundra Black and resulted in one of the closest and most nail-biting games so far this season. When the whistle finally blew, the scores were locked at 1-1. Special mention to Joey Harrys for extraordinary keeping. Well done Eels.
