Finding The Joy
Finding The Joy
In a Prep interview this week, as adults we were reflecting on the challenges that the rainy weather had brought. When the Pre-Prep child was asked whether they enjoyed playing inside or outside when it was not raining, they enthusiastically corrected me to say, “No I love playing outside when it’s raining, there are lots of puddles to jump in”. Children find delight in a whole range of things. It is always energising to share the joy of a child or young person as they share excitement about their world. Through this rainy period, I have appreciated sharing the joy of young people as they discovered they could model periodic change, people dropping warming foods on my desk, succeeding with a bean bag challenge with the Year 1 students and hearing laughter flow around me.
God encourages us to pause and see the world as a child, with eyes that are fresh, appreciative, playful and wondering. He goes further to encourage us to have faith like a child. Simple, uncomplicated and trusting.
