Last week we celebrated the graduates of 2021, commencing with a ‘Connection and Celebration’ BBQ breakfast on Tuesday 16th November, hosted by our Year 12 students. The week continued with a 3-day Alternate Program, which included presentations by Red Frogs and Headspace; completion of individual Graduation art tiles; the planting of a tree with Year 2 buddies; Graduation; Final Chapel; Guard of Honour and finally, the Formal.

A huge congratulations to the graduates of 2021.  My hope and wish is that your final days as a Pacific student are cherished forever and that when you do reflect on your time as a student a PLC, your memories are filled with joy and love.

Year 10 Leadership Day 2

On Tuesday 23rd November it was the Year 10 cohorts turn to connect at their second Leadership Day, run by Lutheran Youth Queensland. An aim of the second Leadership Day was to grow students’ agency and develop a sense of cohesion as they approach Year 11 in 2022.  They were given time to reflect on their transition from a middle college student, into senior college and now, as they approach their final two years as a student at Pacific. The students also enjoyed and appreciated this time together at the end of a very busy year, focusing on how they can continue the legacy of strong connection, cohesion and senior student leadership.

Finishing with High Expectations

With only a few days left on the College calendar, it is important that students continue demonstrating high expectations of learning, behaviour and uniform standards to finish the 2021 school year.  Students were reminded at this week’s Middle and Senior College assembly about maintaining high expectations, including wearing the correct PLC socks, no skate shoes and specific hats with each uniform. It will be an expectation that all students commence 2022 wearing correct shoes (sports shoes that provide arch support), correct PLC socks, correct hats with correlating sports or formal uniforms, neat and tidy hair as per College policy.  Students must only wear one stud or sleeper and no other additional jewelry or make up (other than a cross chain).  I encourage all students to make appointments with the Uniform Shop before the conclusion of the school year to organise these uniforms so that they are ready for the start of the 2022 school year.

On Tuesday 30th November, the College concludes with the Closing Service, held at the Caloundra Event Centre, commencing at 6:30pm. Students are expected to arrive at 6:00pm. It is a College expectation that all students attend this very important College event. Students not attending are required to inform their Head of House or Year 6 teacher via email correspondence before Tuesday, Week 9. Thank you for supporting the Closing Service and its important role in celebrating, reflecting and acknowledging individual and collective achievements throughout 2021.

God bless and Merry Christmas.

Ms Leigh Finter, Head of Senior College Students
